Neely Moreman began her career in high school as a carhop at Sonic, where she embraced the challenge of roller skating while serving customers. Her time at Sonic extended through high school and into her first semesters of junior college, providing her with invaluable experience in food service operations. Recognizing a desire for growth, Moreman transitioned from fast food to waitressing and decided to take a couple of gap years from school to work full-time in the restaurant industry.
However, Moreman knew she had more to offer, which led her back to education. Moreman was accepted into the Merchandising and Digital Retail program at the University of North Texas (UNT). Encouraged by her professors to gain hands-on experience, she took on a retail position at Ulta Beauty, where she learned key merchandising skills such as planogram execution, product/ad placement, and the importance of loyalty programs.
As Moreman approached graduation, she secured a merchandising internship at Yesway. During her internship, she focused on refreshing non-edible grocery sets in collaboration with various teams, and was fortunate enough to extend her internship through my final semester. Before graduating, Moreman was offered a full-time role as a merchandising coordinator at Yesway, where she supported the food service and dispensed the team with category analytics. During this time, she also gained expertise in space planning, stepping in for a colleague.
In her role, Moreman was entrusted with managing the supplies category, where she successfully revamped an outdated program, achieving cost savings despite inflation. Recently, she expanded my responsibilities to include the bakery category and earned a promotion to associate category manager. In this role, Moreman is dedicated to providing operational support through transparent communication, with a particular focus on ensuring essential products like bread, eggs, and milk are accessible to our communities in food deserts.
